Supported Accommodation

Brighter Futures (QLD ) is a registered NDIS provider that supports people living with a disability in an accommodation setting. We are dedicated to providing a quality and personalised service to suit participants’ needs and goals. We enjoy challenges while having an innovative approach allowing us to be slightly different from other providers. We truly have a family feel throughout Brighter Futures (QLD).

Brighter Futures (QLD) offer multiple accommodation support options that may appeal to you.

SIL – Supported Independent Living

Supported Independent Living (SIL) is support or supervision with daily tasks in your home to help you live as independently as possible while building your skills. It is paid personal supports and is most commonly used in shared living arrangements. It includes things like having a person to assist with personal care tasks or cooking meals.

Supported Independent Living is for people with higher support needs who require some level of help at home all the time. This means you need a significant amount of assistance throughout the day, 7 days a week, including overnight supports.

STA – Short Term Accommodation

Short Term Accommodation, including respite, is funding for support and accommodation for a short time away from your usual home. It covers the cost of your care for up to 14 days at a time. You might have a short stay with other people, or by yourself.

Short Term Accommodation funding can be used for respite to support you and your carers. This gives your carers a short break from their caring role while allowing you to create new opportunities like:

  • try new things
  • make new friends or develop new skills
  • or maintain your current living situation by giving your informal supports a break.

MTA – Medium Term Accommodation

Medium Term Accommodation gives you somewhere to live while waiting for a long term housing solution. NDIS only funds this if you’re waiting for your disability-related supports and have a confirmed long term housing solution. NDIS usually funds Medium Term Accommodation for up to 90 days. Medium Term Accommodation can support you if you need somewhere to live while waiting for your confirmed long term housing solution. This means you need evidence that you have somewhere to live when your Medium Term Accommodation funding ends.

NDIS only funds Medium Term Accommodation if:

  • you have a confirmed long term housing solution, and
  • you’re waiting for your disability related supports so you can move into your long term housing solution.

ILO – Individualised Living Options

An Individualised Living Option (ILO) is an NDIS support that lets you choose the home you live in and set up supports in the way that best suits you. An ILO is a package of supports that can help you live where and who you want to live with. There are a lot of choices with ILO.

The ILO support package can be changed if your needs change and will be designed to provide the safety, stability, and flexibility you need. You can also include the support you get from friends and family, so everything works together how you want it to.
